Cote d’Ivoire Market Watch | June 11th 2015: BRVM equities close green, market cap up by XOF 34 billion.
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Thursday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 274.48 to 274.84 points, a gain of 0.13%. BRVM Composite index gained 0.50% to 275.02 against 273.65 points previously. At the same time, the equity market capitalization added XOF 33.71 billion to close at XOF 6,786.18 billion compared with previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 6,752.47 billion.
In term of market activity, today trading activity declined in term volume and turnover compared to previous day. The total volume was recorded at 28,824 compared to volume of 69,478 recorded at previous trading sessions and total traded value was recorded at XOF 711.592 million (against XOF 821.587 million recorded at previous trading session). Out of the 39 listed securities 29 were traded in 213 transactions. In addition, today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 15,212 traded shares (accounted for almost 53 percent of the total volume) and TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest turnover of XOF 295.50 million (accounted of nearly 42 percent). The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 15.20 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 20.23.
In term of the shakers and laggards, out of the 29 traded securities there were 12 price gainers, 7 laggards and 10 remained unchanged, hence market breathe end on a positive note. The price gainers were NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE advanced by 7.49 percent to close at XOF 49,700 and TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 7.41 percent to conclude at XOF 340.500. Likewise, SOLIBRA COTE D’IVOIRE climbed by 5.45 percent to settle at XOF 38,000 and SERVAIR ABIDJAN COTE D’IVOIRE added 6.67 percent with a closing price of XOF 72,000.
On the laggards table, CIE COTE D’IVOIRE declined by 7.01 percent to trade at XOF 73,000 and MOVIS COTE D’IVOIRE fell by 2.22 percent to close at XOF 4,400. Still on losers’ chart, SOCIETE GENERALE COTE D’IVOIRE and SONATEL SENEGAL plummeted by 0.91 percent and 0.06 percent to close at XOF 98,500 and XOF 24,005 respectively.
From sector viewpoint, public utilities sector index tumbled by 0.94 percent and transportation sector index went down by 0.04 percent. On the other hand, financial services sector index surged by 0.78 percent, agriculture sector index rose by 0.58 percent and industry section index gained 3.48 percent. While miscellaneous sector index remained flat.
